Technology is so Frustrating!

This is the first season that I've ever watched American Idol, and I didn't miss a night of it. Until tonight. The FINALE!!! Ahh I'm so frustrated. True, better this night than last week with Melinda performing, but come on! Our DVR didn't even record a tiny bit of the show. It just decided not to record anything. And we even checked earlier today to see if it was set up, and it was. So I just searched on technorati to find out who won, and it was Jordin. I'm happy for her. She is 17 and has many years ahead of her, and has a great voice and is fun to watch. I would have been happy for Blake too, he added a whole different style to the show.
Alright, well now that I can't watch the finale which should have been recording while we were at youth group, I'm gonna go to bed and either watch Sleeping Beauty or Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. I've been on a Disney/Pixar kick lately. So far I've watched The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast and Finding Nemo. It's been my nightly routine for the last week or so. I usually only get through about 30 minutes before falling asleep. Tonight I might actually make it through a whole movie.

Bummer on American Idol

Melinda Doolittle, Blake Lewis, Jordin Sparks

I had tears in my eyes when I saw the results on American Idol last night. Melinda went home. It looked like she got the biggest welcome home from last week though, but it wasn't enough to keep her in the finals. I was hoping she would go all the way and win, but oh well. I'm pretty sure someone is already knocking at her door to sign her. I'm not sure how next week will pan out. I'm about equal with Blake and Jordin. I'll be happy with either one of them winning. Before watching the show last night I knew I'd be bummed for whoever got booted off last night, but Melinda was a bit of a shocker for me. All three of them did a fantastic job performing on Tuesday. After that show it was really a toss up for who would move on.

Yesterday

I had a great day yesterday! It finally got warm enough up here for the ice on our lake to completely melt. The day before we still had quite a bit of ice on it, but not anymore!
I went over to Amanda and Connor's house to visit for a little while. Then at 2 I went over to another lady in the church, Robin's house. It was fun visiting with her. Her family moved up here from Kansas in August. So they are pretty new to the area too. I love meeting people from down South too. I just feel an instant connection with them 'cause we can relate to all the changes and things you have to get use to of the Northern culture. The main thing is getting use to taking your shoes off when you go into someone's house. Definitely something we're not use to. :)

Then last night Tim and I had Amanda and Mark over for dinner and watched "RV" with Robin Williams in it. Grace (Tim's sister) had mentioned many times that it's a good movie, so I had been wanting to watch it for a while. It was very funny, I think we laughed through the whole movie.

We also watched American Idol, which I was very pleased with. And I'm actually listening to country music right now 'cause it got me missing it. Phil Stacey was amazing last night. Country music is his nitch and he did a GREAT job! I was so excited for him that I voted for him for the first time. Awesome job Phil! I thought Lakisha totally bombed her performance. She picked a song that meant something to her, and I love the song "Jesus Take the Wheel" by Carrie Underwood, but it wasn't a song for Lakisha's voice. Jordin Sparks did well as always. And Melinda Doolittle was just my favorite as always. And I think she just looked gorgeous last night! I loved her outfit and how her hair was done. I think last night was her best performance overall. So of course I voted for Melinda also. :)

I wasn't impressed with any of the other singers. I thought Blake did okay. I was glad that the judges finally pointed out Chris' nasally singing. It gets on my nerves every time I listen to him. I just can't handle it. I'll be okay if he is voted off tonight.

I was mainly excited 'cause Melinda did awesome as always and Phil did an incredible job! I really like his personality, I think he is a really sweet guy and humble and just likes to have fun, so it was great to see him in his element.

Good Night Tonight

Jr. High youth group was a blast tonight. After a creative game of dodge ball, 3 of the youth competed in our own version of Deal or No Deal. The youth were so excited and involved with the game. Tim even had each student pick others to be their "family" to help with decisions. It was so loud with excitement that it was hard to hear Tim yelling in the microphone for me to know which boxes the students were choosing. To end the evening the students broke out into groups of 5 or 6 and looked up scripture and answered some questions. Tonight was to get the kids thinking on how they make decisions in their lives. I have had the opportunity to be with the younger girls when we break into groups. I love hearing them think and encouraging them to think more. One thing I have learned over the last couple years, is that if you keep on asking the right questions, the students can usually come up with the correct answers on their own. I love it!

The outcome of American Idol tonight was just great! I was very happy to see Haley Scarnato gone tonight. Tim made the great observation that the contestants last week were very sad to see Gina gone, and tonight didn't seem too upset. I was glad that Phil Stacey is sticking around. I don't think he is a great singer, but I really like his attitude with everything. And I think his wife is just adorable. I was happy to see that it came between Sanjaya Malakar and Chris Richardson for the last in the bottom 3. Chris' voice is just way too nasally for me, and I think he is just going off of his looks for this competition...which obviously didn't last for Haley. I'd like to see Phil outlast Sanjaya and Chris, so we'll see what happens.

Idol Shocker

My mouth dropped when I saw the results on American Idol. Gina Glocksen was one of my favorite contestants on Idol, and I hate to see her go. I have looked forward to her performance every week. I guess thats what happens when you don't vote though. I have continued to vote for Melinda Doolittle, and was very pleased to see her in the top 3 tonight. I hope next week doesn't have any shockers.

Overall Good Night for American Idol

The internet was down this morning, so that totally threw my day off for me. Instead of getting to sit here on the computer I cleaned! So our kitchen looks nice and our laundry is getting clean. I also made a sign for us to remember to put out our trash tonight. We signed up for trash pick up 3 weeks ago, and have thus far forgotten to put our trash out. So last week and the week before we get a call at 6:30am Thursday morning telling us that we forgot to put it out. So hopefully 3rd times a charm and we'll get it out there tonight for tomorrow morning. Our garage looks like a dump right now with all of our trash bags lining the walls. I think it will take a couple more weeks before we get all of our trash out of here!

Tim fixed our TV! It still restarts every so often, but I was so proud of it to stay on for the whole 2 hours of American Idol last night. Again, I voted for Melinda Doolittle. I could listen to her sing non-stop. I love her voice. And I was very proud of Haley Scarnato. She really stepped up her game last night and did a good job. Hopefully she'll continue in that direction 'cause that was the first performance she did that I enjoyed. So good job Haley. I really hope that Sanjaya Malakar goes home tonight. Everyone has blown him out of the water, and I believe he is still on because a group of people who are trying to just keep drama in American Idol by upsetting everyone who knows he doesn't compare to the other singers. Although, he is getting a lot of publicity with this.

Okay, who else watched American Idol last night? I can not understand the little girl who was just bawling her eyes out during the show! It worked for her though 'cause she got lots of air time and got to meet all of the contestants up on stage in front of everyone at the end of the show. I told Tim after the show, "I bet all the other girls there were thinking, 'why didn't I think of that!'." Lets see tonight if there is someone else bawling to get the attention she got. I just don't get it.

American Idol Top 12

Wow was tonight a surprise! I made my predictions of who would be voted off this week before even seeing them perform, and I was only 50/50. I think the judges shared in my shock with 2 of the outcomes. When they called Jared Cotter up I told Tim I wouldn't be surprised if he went home before they said anything. But when it came down to Sundance Head and Sanjaya Malakar...I was expecting Sundance to stay, but nervous because Sanjaya isn't as good as the rest of the guys, but has managed to stick around, so he does have a big following which made me nervous for good reasons.

With the girls I was glad to see Antonella Barba finally off. I thought she should have been the first to go. I was sure last week that the other girl voted off would have either been Gina Glocksen or Haley Scarnato. I thought Gina was outstanding in her performance this week, so after that I was almost sure Haley would go home. I was thinking Haley and Sabrina Sloan were at the lower end of the girls...but think Sabrina did much better than Haley. So to see the two of them brought out together and told that one was staying and one going I thought surely Sabrina would stay.

My favorite 3 people are: Melinda Doolittle, Blake Lewis, and Gina Glocksen now. We'll see how they continue to do the rest of the show.

Disappointed with American Idol

Alright. Our makeshift tivo hasn't been the greatest with American Idol this week. I didn't get to see but maybe 4 people sing this week because it kept on restarting, so because of that I didn't vote this week. But man! The votes tonight, and by last weeks performances and the recaps tonight, I am shocked by the results! I thought Nick would have lasted a couple more weeks at least. And I am disappointed that Antonella is still in the running. I have thought she is the least talented out of all of the contestants and I don't like the way she acts when then judges are giving their opinions. Tim wasn't surprised that Alaina was voted off, but I would have rather seen her stay around than Antonella.
I was glad last week that Sanjaya got to stay around one more week. But I really think that he should have gone instead of Nick.
My predictions for next week getting voted off before even hearing them sing are:
Antonella, and Haley or Gina, then Sanjaya and Jared. Unless they can all step it up next week.
Or I think some people just know a lot of people and thats how they're getting the votes. Good for them, but I sure hope one of these people with true talent makes it all the way.
I'll have to go and watch this weeks performances sometime at Amanda and Connors house.
I am very glad that Melinda Doolittle is still in, not that I'm surprised though. I didn't get to see her performance, just the judges talking about it.
